Caring for Your Gems
Aside from practicing good oral hygiene, be sure to follow the protocols listed below to make your gems last:
-
Avoid eating any foods for 2 hours after your gem application. You'll want to make sure that you do NOT eat any "tough" foods, such as corn and hard candy, for at least 48 hours.
-
Drink only water for the first two hours. Avoid highly acidic drinks during the first 12 hours.
-
Avoid using an electric toothbrush on your tooth with the gem. You may brush around but exercise caution and be gentle.
-
When you use floss be careful not to tug or pull the gem with the string.
-
Cigarette Smokers: Be advised that smoking accelerates the breakdown of molecular bonds in adhesives. Please read the 3-Month Guarantee Policy in the Policy section below before booking an appointment.
Maintaining Your Lip Blush
Thorough Post-Care Instructions will be provided to you on the day of your appointment; however, these protocols are recommended to help you maintain your results past the initial healing stage:
-
It is strongly recommended that you do NOT use any of the following products on your tattoo: Benzoyl Peroxide, Hydrogen Peroxide, Glycolic Acid, Apple Cider Vinegar, Vitamin E and C, and Retinol. These products can fade or lighten your tattoo faster.
-
Wear SPF! The UV rays will deteriorate the pigment and lighten or fade the tattoo faster. Salt water and chlorine may also break the pigments down more quickly so be sure to rinse with water after contact.
-
This treatment does fade after 1-3 years depending on your skin and lifestyle. Touch-ups are necessary to maintain the longevity and overall beauty of your tattoo. If you have oily skin, an iron deficiency, or a very strong immune system, your pigment will not last as long and will not heal as crisp as others.
Maintaining Your Brows
In the first 6-8 weeks, intensified color and swelling will occur but it's important to be patient. This intensity should regress within 7 days. You may feel slight burning and experience minimal scabbing or flaking so it's important to follow these instructions:
-
Do NOT pick your brows. You will cause scarring.
-
Exposure to soap, shampoo, or cleanser to unhealed brows in the first 10 days will negatively affect your results.
-
Do NOT use cosmetic products on your brows in the first 2 weeks.
-
No threading or waxing in the first 2-4 weeks.
-
No bleach or dye exposure in the first 6-8 weeks.
-
No exercise or sweating in the first week.
-
No bath submersion or excessive water exposure in the first 10 days.
-
No anti-aging products (i.e. Retinols), acne products (i.e. Glycolic Acids), or laser treatments.
The Healing Process for Removals
When undergoing corrections, following the aftercare guidelines for the PMU service listed above will extend the longevity of your results. It is just as equally important to abide by the instructions below when undergoing removals to make sure that we lay a perfect foundation for any PMU work:
-
Your post-procedure removal care consists of using the Microcurrent Mask, applying the aftercare gel, and keeping the treated area clean and out of the sun.
-
The removal process relies heavily on your skin forming scabs post-procedure; the thicker the scabs, the better chance of pigment removal.
-
It is a must to let the scabbing process happen naturally. This is very important for your removal and skin healing. Do NOT pick at the scabs, scratch, peel, or scrub the treated area. Doing so will result in scarring and affect the results of the pigment removal. This may delay any post revisions or correction procedures so let it be. ❤️
-
What is a tooth gem?A tooth gem is a semi-permanent, non-invasive procedure that involves bonding gems or charms on your tooth/teeth.
-
Will the gem harm my tooth?Your tooth will not be harmed or damaged whatsoever. I use the best techniques and have been trained by my DDS partner, along with Los Angeles' Icy Gemz, to safely bond and adhere the gems to your teeth. I take great pride in the work I do and use only the highest quality dental grade materials.
-
Does the tooth gem obstruct regular brushing?Do NOT brush directly over the gem within the initial 24 hours of application. Do NOT use an electric tooth brush for at least 48 hours after. Brush regularly and always practice good dental hygiene. You will want to gently brush around the gem to avoid any build up.
-
Are there any suggested food restrictions for wearing a gem?No eating or drinking anything but water for the first 1-2 hours. Avoid hard foods and candies for the first 48 hours.
-
What if the gem falls off and I swallow it?In rare cases, the crystal may detach itself from the lead-free backing or your gem may "pop off" due to an accident. Don’t worry, it will pass naturally. They are lead-free and non-toxic. You will need to see your dentist to remove any residual adhesive or the lead-free backing before I can place another gem on your tooth. They are trained and properly licensed to safely remove the remaining gem backing or glue without causing any damage to your enamel. Under no circumstances should you attempt to do this yourself! If you need a referral to a dentist, I am happy to provide my DDS partner's contact information. Only a licensed dentist is legally allowed to remove adhesives from teeth.
-
Will I feel the gem in my mouth? After a few days, you won't notice your gems as you become accustomed to the experience of having them. I carefully map and place the gems on each tooth so that the placement won't bother you or interfere with your ability to practice good oral hygiene habits.
-
Can I still get my teeth cleaned by a dental professional?I always encourage all of my clients to exercise good oral hygiene practices. That means, getting your teeth cleaned every 6 months, flossing daily, brushing your teeth, and protecting your enamel health. A licensed and experienced dentist will know how to provide your teeth cleaning service following your tooth gem application.
-
Does the application process hurt at all? There is zero pain! The procedure of applying tooth gems is safe and easy. No drilling or dental work will ever be done by me nor required. The process takes approximately 10-15 minutes. I use the best dental grade etch and adhesive, provided by my DDS partner, to bond the tooth gems to your tooth. An LED light is used to cure the adhesive to ensure a long lasting bond. The process is very similar to the technique for attaching traditional braces to teeth.
-
What are Swarovski crystals?Genuine Swarovski crystals are lead-free and non-toxic. They do NOT contain dangerous plastics or acrylics and are safe for oral use. They are stain-resistant with a flat back and foiled platinum surface. I use only Swarovski crystals and certified 18KT+ tooth charms in gold or white gold.
-
If I'm under 18 years old, can I get tooth gems?Yes but only with parent permission. You must be 18+ to get a tooth gem or under 18 with parental consent. Your parent/guardian and proper identification must be present at the time of your appointment.
-
How should I prepare for my tooth gem appointment?Make sure to brush your teeth, floss, and rinse with mouthwash before coming to your appointment. If you are unable to do so I will provide a disposable brush and dental floss for you. If you'd like to bring inspo, feel free to have photos ready on the day of your appointment. Please be aware that if you are adamant about having a specific Swarovski crystal or 18KT+ gold charm to contact me at inkedhoneystudio@gmail.com or submit a Contact Form to ensure that your jewelry is available.
-
What happens if my tooth gem pops off within the first 3 months following my appointment?I am happy to replace any fallen tooth gem within the first 3 months of your appointment as this is my guarantee to you! Although I have not had this experience as of yet, I do understand that this may occur even though it is extremely rare when the gems are properly applied. You will not be charged for the replacement; however, if your fallen gem was caused by an accident my protection policy is not applicable and you will need to pay for the service and products used. For more details, please check out the Policy section down below.
-
Can I wear a tooth gem if I have a retainer? If you're currently using a clear plastic retainer (Invisalign, Smile Direct) or a wire type retainer, please bring it to your appointment. The only gems and charms I can offer for those with retainers must have no projection and remain flat in order for the gem to be comfortable and allow your retainer to fit. For wire retainers, gems and charms must be placed around the wire and have absolutely no direct contact with the retainer on. I'll ask you to remove and put on your retainer so that I can see the motion of how your retainer moves along your teeth to give you the best recommendations. Please be aware that having gems while using a retainer increases your chances of having your gems fall off prematurely.
-
Can I get a tooth gem on my crown or veneer?Unfortunately, tooth gems cannot be applied to any artificial tooth surface such as crowns, caps, veneers or dentures. No exceptions!
-
I've had a previous tooth gem applied that I no longer want. Can you remove it?All tooth gems are meant to fall off naturally. I do NOT offer tooth gem removal. They can be removed at any time by a dentist or dental hygienist. I am happy to refer you to my DDS partner if you are the in Bay Area and in need of a dentist.
-
Is the adhesive bonding agent safe for my teeth?I've teamed up with my DDS partner to use the highest quality dental adhesives on the market. This adhesive is used when applying braces, crowns, and other dental work. The etch and bonding agents are non-toxic, safe, and the best-in-class dental products on the market for over 10 years.
-
Does Lip Blush hurt?It is slightly uncomfortable but completely bearable. The tattooing process lasts about an hour. I use an excessive amount of numbing and my technique is extremely gentle. If you are nervous about pain, you may take 1-2 Tylenol approximately 30 minutes before your appointment. Do NOT take Advil or drink a coffee before your appointment. Coffee and Advil will cause you to bleed more and also increase your sensitivity during the procedure.
-
Do I need a touch-up?Touch-ups are recommended for everybody. During touch-up sessions, I can alter the shape and color of your tattoo, go bolder, or fill in spots that didn't retain pigment during healing. Touch-ups will also add longevity to the life of your tattoo. A touch-up must be booked no sooner than 4 weeks of your last appointment. Please read the rest of this FAQ section to ensure you have waited long enough from undergoing laser treatments, filler, or botox sessions to have a touch-up done. To book touch-ups or to find a specific spot that is not listed in the booking system, please e-mail me at inkedhoneystudio@gmail.com. Touch-ups will be an extra charge and the touch-up fee does go up after a period of time from the initial appointment. Refer to the Book Now page to see the touch-up fee pricing scale.
-
Can we go outside the lip line when getting Lip Blush done?Yes but only 2 mm. The skin on the lips is not the same as on the face and things can look unnatural or get unpredictable when we tattoo too far outside the natural lip line.
-
How can I prepare for my Lip Blush session?Do NOT consume caffeine and alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment to prevent excessive pain and bleeding. Do NOT take Advil or other blood thinners such a Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen unless medically necessary, 48-72 hours prior to your procedure. Extra strength Tylenol can be taken if you have low pain tolerance. Avoid exercising the day of the procedure. Do NOT take or get any chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing, Vitamin E, retinols, or fish oil at least 4 weeks before your appointment. If your appointment is booked during a cold sore outbreak on your lips, the procedure may not be done. Please be advised that if you have the herpes simplex virus, you may awaken an outbreak following this treatment. It is highly recommended to take an anti-viral medication such as Zivorax at least 5 days before as well as on then the day of. You will also want to take Zivorax at least 5 days after or as advised by your doctor or pharmacist. Do NOT get lip injections 4 weeks before and after this treatment.
-
How long does Lip Blush last?Depending on your skin, health, and if you come for touch-up refreshers, your tattoo will last between 2-5 years. Here are some factors that will cause your semi-permanent tattoo to fade faster: Oily skin Retinol or Vitamin C use Iron deficiency Sun exposure Exfoliants (including treatments at your beauty spa) Exposure to salt water
-
Who is not an ideal candidate for Lip Blush? You may NOT have this procedure if: You are not under the age of 18. You are pregnant or breastfeeding. You were on Accutane within the past year. You are receiving medical treatments that disqualify you from this procedure as advised by your doctor. You are taking medications that may affect how your skin responds to blood clotting and healing. You are likely to develop infections. If your previous tattoo is too dark or thick, please e-mail inkedhoneystudio@gmail.com with a photo for cover-ups.
-
Does this procedure trigger cold sores? This procedure can trigger cold sores for carriers of the herpes simplex virus. To prevent cold sores from flaring up, it is recommended to go to your family doctor and get Zovirax or another anti-viral medication prescribed to take 5 days prior to your procedure, as well as on the day of, and 5 days after. Please be advised that a cold sore outbreak can alter the healed results of the tattoo.
-
Can I get Lip Blush done if I have filler in my lips?Yes! In no way does having lip filler interfere with the process of tattooing lips or the results. Please be advised that lip filler and lip blush appointments must be at least 4 weeks apart from each other.
-
What if I had a Lip Blush service done by someone else? Could I still book an appointment with you?You will need to e-mail me pictures of your current lips at inkedhoneystudio@gmail.com before booking an appointment for a Corrections/Removals service. Please be aware that I will only accept clients with previous work done if they undergo the appropriate UNDO Removal System sessions. The total number of UNDO Removal sessions depends on various factors. For more information, please click on the Corrections/Removals tab on this FAQ section, check out the Corrections/Removals page, submit a Contact Form or e-mail me directly.
-
How do I book a touch-up session for Lip Blush? The price list and suggested intervals are found on the Book Now page. If you are looking to book a touch-up and you haven't had so in 3+ years, you will need to e-mail a picture of your lips to inkedhoneystudio@gmail.com so that I can determine if they need a complete redo.
-
Can I get Lip Blush if I have cool toned or more pigmented lips?Yes, however, in the first session I will have to color correct your lips to cancel out the cool tones. This means the initial color I tattoo must be orange! If I tattoo any other color you risk darkening your lips further or having absolutely no results at all. When healed at 6 weeks, most if not all of the color in your lips will be neutralized and your lips will have a nudey-pink even tone. Note that results cannot be guaranteed and lightening or evening-out pigmented lips may take a few sessions. Under no circumstances will I tattoo a nude color on cool toned/pigmented lips. If you are unsure about whether you have dark or cool toned lips you can send me a picture of your lips in natural light to confirm. Lips too dark or thick will be rejected if you schedule a Lip Blush appointment so please be sure to schedule an appointment for Lip Neutralization and e-mail pictures of your lips to inkedhoneystudio@gmail.com if your lips are extremely dark grey or cool in color.

Is UNDO Non-Laser Tattoo Removal safe? With laser tattoo removal, the ink that is broken down by the laser is not removed from the surface of the skin but rather absorbed into the body. Your lymphatic system will remove the ink from your body and you will excrete it when you urinate. Unfortunately, no studies have been done on how long the ink absorption process takes, or what impacts the remaining ink in your body can have. The exceptional part about UNDO is that it actually lifts the ink out rather than absorbing it into your body. The Deracination Serum helps the ink rise to the surface of the skin and gets formed in the scab, and when the scab falls off the ink will fall off with it.
-
Are there any skin tone or ink restrictions with UNDO?With laser tattoo removal, there are many different factors that affect the results of the treatment, such as the color of ink used, skin tones, location, and age of the tattoo. With UNDO, you will receive outstanding results regardless of ink color, skin tone, or the location of the tattoo.
-
What is the UNDO Non-Laser Tattoo Removal System?UNDO is a 3-step, non-laser tattoo removal system designed to safely remove all ink and pigment colors from any skin tone. Deracination Serum: With natural active ingredients such as bentonite as well as aloe leaf extract and hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate, the Deracination Serum is designed to “wake up” the dormant ink in the skin and pull it to the surface, while simultaneously hydrating the skin from beneath and improves elasticity in order for it to heal cleaner with minimal scar tissue. Lifting Clay Mask: This clay mask has a unique composition and can act as a magnet that attracts negatively charged toxins as well as any additional ink brought to the surface during the Deracination process. People have been using calcium bentonite clay for centuries as a way to detoxify the body and improve skin tone. Healing Microcurrent Mask: The healing masks aid in quicker healing, with smoother skin and without scar tissue, which enables us to curtail the recovery time after treatments and shorten the healing time in between sessions for faster results (typically about 4 weeks versus 6-8 weeks). The healing masks include Tissue X® technology, which is the world’s first TDDS (Transdermal Drug Delivery System) that conveniently delivers the benefits of iontophoresis treatments to the skin, as used by many dermatologists. Using Tissue X® technology, the healing microcurrent masks deliver active ingredients and macromolecule healing compounds, such as hyaluronic acid, peptides, and vitamins into deeper layers of the skin.
-
Is the UNDO Removal System painful?Laser and saline tattoo removal is not a painless experience. In fact, I've had several clients report that it is more painful than getting tattooed in the first place. I will apply a local anesthetic before the procedure to ensure that you are comfortable. ❤️
-
My skin is prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Should I be worried? Please let me know in advance if you do and I can recommend pre-care steps that will suppress melanin activity on your skin prior to your appointment. You will also receive the proper aftercare instructions following your treatment to prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
-
Does the UNDO System require as many sessions as laser tattoo removal?Laser tattoo removal is the most popular tattoo removal method today and has many downsides. One of the biggest downsides to laser tattoo removal is the number of sessions required to see results. Some clients pay and go through 20 sessions, only to end up with a tattoo that is faded but not completely removed. UNDO can remove your unwanted ink in fewer treatments than laser tattoo removal.
-
What makes UNDO Non-Laser Tattoo Removal different from other systems? It is made of natural ingredients. Most other tattoo removal methods utilize saline, acids, lasers or other harmful chemicals. UNDO is made of natural ingredients and has gone through EU testing in a medical lab. Ingredients include: bentonite, aloe leaf extract, hydrolyzed sodium hyaluronate, calcium bentonite clay, hyaluronic acid, peptides and vitamins.
